Project Description
I was tremendously blessed to have my design dreams supported by uncle who helped me by teaching me the basics of 3D rendering and modeling with Sketchup, Autocad and Vray and my father would support me take me shopping for new design books and magazines every weekend.
From reading the early works of designers like Phillipe Starke and Marc Newson I thought it would be poignant to design a chair as that’s where most industrial designers start their careers.
Relevance
These renders were some of my foundational works in my practice. It’s fun to return to them to see where my passion for design began and how far I’ve come since I started.

Foldable stackable minimalist chairs
As far as I can recall the main inspiration for this chair was to create an attractive and appealing foldable chair. I felt at the time that most folding chairs we kind of ugly and over designed. This was my response to those designs.
I can definitively say this project kicked off a lifetime of design passion.
This was the first unique design I ever invented, previous projects were iterations on existing ideas. This project signifies the first invention.
The feeling of agency and ability inventing on my own as a young teenager is what spurred me to become a professional designer.
