Query AI Capstone

Date: 04/01/2021

Class Project

Timeline: 4 Months

Project Description

Query AI was a research and speculative design project in the spring of 2021.

This project centers around the future of search by using affordances and user research to help map the best possible solution to searches current downfalls.

Incredibly these solutions and predictions match todays search landscape remarkably closely.

Relevance

Due to the rapid rise of software like ChatGPT and other LLM’s from obscurity to mainstream dominance this project is not only relevant today it predicts todays current search landscape with incredible accuracy.

This project predicted the future of search, AI, and research long before OpenAI or Google’s Bard and Gemini were household names.

Three key features that exist today

Gemini Meta Studies and Statistical Significance

Googles Gemini LLM has the ability to conduct a meta analysis of any number of studies for researchers. A feature which is embedded as a core functionality of the Query AI offering.

ChatGPT Summary Generation

Automatic summation is a feature which Chatgpt LLM has brought to the public with its rapid adoption in 2023. Here I posited that natural language responses to complex questions was the future of search.

ChatGPT & Gemini Long Form Explanations

As a complement to the short form summaries Query AI can also generate long form natural language explanations. These would be directly related to the users original search parameters.

This was a breakthrough project which predicted the future of AI and search with extraordinary accuracy.

This project goes a long way to proving the usefulness of UI research tools and shows that solving relevant issues in UI patterns can predict the next generation of software that solves those exact problems.

I’m excited to see how ChatGPT and Gemini manifest for researchers and research in general, especially with meta analysis and studies and to see how similar they may become to Query AI.
